Introduction: Statistics show that the global output of lithium battery cells reached 185 billion yuan in 2016, representing an increase of 17.8 percent from 2015. It is expected that the global output of lithium battery cells will reach 343.6 billion yuan in 2020.

With the wide application of digital products and new energy products, the lithium battery industry has maintained rapid development with high professionalism. After ten years of development, the global lithium battery has been expanding rapidly.

Based on the statistics of the SPIR, the global output of lithium battery cells reached 185 billion yuan in 2016, representing an increase of 17.8 percent from 2015. It is expected that the global output of lithium battery cells will reach 343.6 billion yuan in 2020.

The global 3C lithium battery market has been increasingly mature in recent two years. The power lithium battery market has become the biggest engine to the rapid growth of the global lithium battery market. China has seen most active development of lithium batteries in the world.

Based on the statistics of the SPIR, the total output of global lithium battery has maintained an average growth of over 25 percent since 2010. The global output of lithium battery reached 115.4GWH in 2016, representing an increase of 21.1 percent from the previous year. It is expected that the global output of lithium battery will reach 265.7GWH in 2020, representing 2.5 times of that of 2016.

Based on the statistics of the SPIR, the total output of global lithium battery reached 95.29GWH in 2015, representing an increase of 33.5 percent from the previous year. The output of power batteries for electric vehicles, electric bicycles and tricycles reached 31.50GWH, accounting for about 30 percent of the total output of lithium battery. The global output of lithium battery reached 115.38GWH in 2016, 45.33GWH of which are power lithium batteries and accounting for 40 percent.

Among the lithium battery cells of different shapes, SPIR’s statistics show that the output of soft cells and square cells is approximately 36GWH and 36GWH in 2015 while the demand for cylinder cells is 26.68GWH, accounting for approximately 28 percent. With the development of the new energy vehicle market, the demand for square cells will further expand. Square cells accounted for about 40 percent of the market in 2016.
