China Aug social power use up 1.9 pct on yr to 512.4 bln kwh, NEA

China's social power consumption increased 1.9 percent on year to 512.4 billion kilowatt-hours in August, bringing total power consumption in January-August to 3.678 trillion kilowatt-hours, up 1 percent on year, according to an announcement by the National Energy Administration.

In August, power consumption in primary industry rose 2.3 percent on year to 13.3 billion kilowatt-hours in August, and that in secondary industry up 0.7 percent on year to 354.3 billion kilowatt-hours, and tertiary industry up 7.8 percent on year to 71.5 billion kilowatt-hours. Household power consumption in August increased 2 percent on year to 73.2 billion kilowatt-hours, according to NEA.

Meanwhile, China added 60.74 million kilowatts of newly operational power capacity in January-Aug, including 7.9 million kilowatts of hydropower and 30.82 million kilowatts of thermal power.
