BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Prices of farm produce in China continued to decrease last week, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
From June 10 to 16, the overall price of farm produce fell 0.6 percent on a weekly basis, following a 0.1-percent decrease in the previous week.
The average wholesale price of 30 types of vegetables went down 4 percent. The decrease widened from a 2.1-percent retreat one week earlier.
Egg prices dropped 2.4 percent week on week. However, the wholesale prices of pork, beef and mutton went up 1.2 percent, 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.
Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation.
The latest official data showed China's CPI rose to 2.7 percent in May as tighter supplies of pork and fruit drove up food prices.
MOC data also showed that producer prices dropped 1.1 percent last week.
