The Chinese government has invested 768.65 billion yuan in major infrastructure and energy projects in the less developed western regions this year, according to sources with the National Development and Reform Commission.
Construction has started on 30 major projects in 2015 in the western regions, including railways, highways, water conservation and energy projects, said the NDRC. The government kicked off construction of 270 projects in the area between 2000 and 2015, involving a total investment of 5.6 trillion yuan.
