China's marine economy development expands steadily in 2014

China's Ocean Development Index (ODI), a leading indicator of marine economy, stood at 116.6 percent in 2014, up 3.7 percentage points from 2013, according to a report published on Friday.

The report, jointly made by the China Ocean Information Center, the Xinhua (Qingdao) International Ocean Information Center, and the State Financial Information Center Index Research Institute, said that China's marine economy saw a stable growth in last year.

The index, firstly released in July 2014, was calculated based on six aspects of marine development, including economy, social welfare, resource exploration, environment, technological innovation, and management.
