Bankers and entrepreneurs' confidence in China's economy falls in Q4

Bankers and entrepreneurs are less confident in China's economic outlook for the coming months, according to results of two separate surveys based on questionnaires conducted by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the central bank.

The results showed on Thursday that the entrepreneurs' confidence index dropped to 46.0 percent in the fourth quarter from 50.5 percent in the third quarter. Meanwhile, bankers' confidence index declined to 37.9 percent in the fourth quarter from 40.6 percent in the third quarter. Among all the bankers surveyed by PBOC, 34.3 percent believed China's macro-economy was now operating at a normal level, compared with 36.9 percent in the previous quarter.
