China's reclamation areas are set to achieve gross production value of 701.1 billion yuan in 2015 with annual growth rate at 12.5 percent in the 2011-2015 period, according to a national work conference held over the weekend.
With rich land resources and high commodity rate of farm products, the country's reclamation areas are the "national team" in guaranteeing national grain security and effective supply of major agricultural products including cotton, rubber, sugar, dairy products and meat.
In 2015, the reclamation areas' grain output is estimated to reach 36.35 million metric tons (tonnes), a jump of 21.2 percent from 2010. Meanwhile, farm mechanization rate in the areas is expected to approach 87.4 percent, 26 percentage points higher than the national average level.
