The 2015 International Ceramic Expo opened on Sunday in Jingdezhen, China's ceramic capital, attracting over 900 porcelain makers and traders from across the globe.

A total of 2,000 exhibition booths were set up during the five-day event to display international ceramics producers, high-tech ceramics, domestic ceramic artwork and porcelain for daily use.

The Expo this year features a larger number of international participants, including companies from Germany, Britain and Japan, said Lei Jun, an official of the Expo commission. More than 50 universities and scientific research institutions brought their advanced porcelain-making technology to the exhibition.

Jingdezhen in east China's Jiangxi Province is the most famous Chinese porcelain-making center, with more than 1,600 years of sophisticated ceramic production.

First launched in 2004, the International Ceramic Expo is organized jointly by the Ministry of Commerce, the China Federation of Light Industries, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Jiangxi Provincial Government.
