Industrial output in Hubei, a province in central China, grew 8.5 percent from a year ago in September, data released by local government showed on Monday, slightly lower than August's 8.7 percent rise but much higher than an 8.1 percent increase in July.
In the January-September period, the average growth rate was 8.3 percent. Industrial output, officially called industrial value added, is used to measure the activity of designated large enterprises that have an annual turnover of at least 20 million yuan (3.22 million U.S. dollars).
