China's National Development and Reform Commission has approved a new railway project linking Beijing with Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province, reported the Xinhua-run cnstock.com.
The 174-km railway, estimated to cost 58.41 billion yuan, is designed for trains at a speed of 250 km/hr. One-way transport capacity of the railway is designed at 60 million passengers a year. Located about 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing, Zhangjiakou will host some of the skiing events in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
