Shaanxi-Italy Forum on Electronics and Trade opened on Wednesday in the Xixian New Area in Xianyang, northwest China's Shaanxi province.
China-Italy Chamber of Commerce said Italian companies in China will increase investment in west China as guided by the 'Belt and Road' initiative. Shaanxi-Italy Cooperation Conference on Economics and Trade is the first bilateral economic and trade forum jointly held by Shaanxi province and Italy.
Su Jieao, vice president of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, said there are currently 2,000 some Italian companies in China and most of them gathered in Shanghai and surrounding areas.
Over the past two years, Italian companies increased investment in central and western China regions. For instance, Italian firms cooperated with Chongqing municipality in automotive manufacturing and established the China-Italy Aviation Valley with Shaanxi province.
Ettore Francesco Sequi, Italian Ambassador to China, said tourism is significant heritage and Italy is willing to enhance communications with Xian, the capital city of Shaanxi province, such as opening direct flights between Xian and Rome and setting up a Visa application center in Xian.
The two sides also agreed to launch all-round cooperation in environmental protection industry and aviation industry.
