International Entrepreneur Festival held, HK hoped youth to be linkmen

The 2015 Hong Kong International Entrepreneur Festival is an international activity themed with innovation and entrepreneurship, which is held for the first time with highest class, largest scale, and maximum institutional and individual participants in Hong Kong. It was opened on Dec. 3 in the Asia World Expo of Hong Kong. Representatives of many famous enterprises home and abroad, including Jin Jianhang, president of Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA.NYSE), and Qi Xiangdong, founder and president of Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. (QIHU.NYSE), shared their experience and discussed future trend of the industry with all participants in the first day. The Festival has attracted the attention of IT industry, various famous enterprises home and abroad as well as people of over 200,000.

To enhance business start-up and development

Leung Chun Ying, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, presented in the opening ceremony and made a speech that Hong Kong owns perfect infrastructures on information, communications, science and technology, with huge potential of internet-related development. Freely-exchanged information also makes Hong Kong become a regional internet hub, and provide favorable environment for its sustainable development for the “Internet plus”. He indicated that China Internet Development Foundation and Hong Kong Comix Foundation have formally signed a MOU for strategic cooperation in the activity, and will provide survey and internship opportunities related to “Internet +” for the youth in Hong Kong, which could make the youth deeply understand major policies of China, and is also beneficial for their career development and business start-up. The youth can better prepare for being “super linkmen” in the economic development of internet in the future.

Zhuang Rongwen, vice director of National Internet Information Office, pointed out that the Festival is an important achievement of the cooperation between mainland and Hong Kong, but also a significant and international platform for experience exchange on innovation and business start-up. He believed that the Festival will play an important role in creating innovative ecology, forming economic growth points, and boosting prospective development for Hong Kong.

New products collectively showed in Festival

Many innovative and new products collectively showed in the Festival. Based on introduction of Yang Quansheng, executive president of the Preparatory Committee for this Festival, various companies, such as Leshi Holding Co., Ltd., Cogobuy Group (00400.HK) and KuangChi Science Ltd. (00439.HK), exhibited their many products; various products were showed in Hong Kong for the first time, including cloud platform “Yun Duan Hao” combined with smart city and Internet of Things, latest products of Leshi, innovative and intelligent hardware products successfully developed on the “Ying Dan” platform of Cogobuy Group, photon entrance guard and payment initially created in the world, “Iron Man” jet pack selected as one of the 50 inventions by the Time, Solar Ship providing transportation solution for remote areas, new aircraft U-1 comprehensively taking advantages of rotor, helium buoyancy, solar energy and lithium battery.

Fruitful achievements fulfilled

In addition to the role as an effective communication platform for Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs and investors, HKIEF also realized fruitful achievements. The winner of the Top Ten Young International Entrepreneurs Award will be awarded 10 million yuan investment fund and the chance to engage well-known investment institutions as entrepreneur mentor. Moreover, HKIEF also entitled nine major innovation entrepreneurship bases, including Beijing-Hong Kong Co-working Base, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Co-working Base, Shanghai-Hong Kong Co-working Base and New Third Board Acceleration Base, with total areas of more than 1 million square meters, which will serve as platforms for Hong Kong and overseas entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, China Internet Development Foundation and Hong Kong United Foundation have singed Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding at HKIEF, which facilitates interaction and cooperation between youths from Mainland China and Hong Kong. Mr. Qin Changgui, Chairman of HKIEF Preparatory Committee, said that the two sides have reached various cooperative intentions in “Internet Plus” and youth development areas. In the future, they will hold forums and seminars in the Mainland and Hong Kong and jointly organize and promote Hong Kong youngsters to visit, intern at and work with leading technological and internet companies in the Mainland.

Mr Qin indicated that the HKIEF is held in the context of “Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation” national policy, and it is one the achievements fulfilled from the enhanced cooperation in internet sector between the Mainland and Hong Kong. HKIEF Preparatory Committee plans to build HKIEF into a global high-profile innovation and entrepreneurship gala held annually in the city, and continuously expands its influence to help Hong Kong and the Mainland to boost economic transformation and youth development; in the future, the committee will organize more innovation activities in Hong Kong to procure in-depth cooperation with innovation bases across the Mainland, promote exchanges and jointly conduct co-working activities and attract extensive entrepreneurial and innovational resources, to create a platform for long-term communication and cooperation for entrepreneurs and investors.

This year’s HKIEF is themed “Love is here, innovation is here”. It is jointly organized by China Internet Development Foundation, Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council, Internet Professional Association, and Brightway. It is estimated that 20 events will be held during the HKIEF, which will last for three days, and it will attract over 200 thousand participants and 1000 organizations from Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United States, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia and Israel. With the aim of providing an international communication and cooperation platform for entrepreneurs and investors, the event will promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Hong Kong and throughout China.
