Beijing municipality will build 5,000 public charging piles for new energy vehicles in 2016, bringing the total number to 10,000, which is expected to relieve range anxiety, the Beijing Daily reported on Thursday.
According to a policy newly issued by the local government on Wednesday, the municipal government will attract social capital investment in public charging pile construction by lowering access threshold, simplifying procedures, clarifying charging standards and providing subsidies.
Lin Xiaofeng, an official with Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, said the operators of charging facilities can collect charging service fees. The upper limit of charging service fee for one kWh is set at 15 percent of the maximum retail price for 92# gasoline.
Besides, social capital that invests in public charging facility construction will get fund support from municipal fixed-asset subsidy that amounts to as much as 30 percent of the project's total investment.
