East China's Shandong Province plans to invest 72 billion yuan in transportation construction in 2016, up 11.3 percent from that in 2015.
Of the total, 57.6 billion yuan will be spent in highway construction, 10.8 billion yuan in port and shipping construction, and the remaining 3.6 billion yuan in terminal construction.
By the end of 2016, Shandong will have seen 265,000 kilometers of highway mileage, of which expressway mileage accounting for 5,700 kilometers.
The throughput of coastal ports will have reached 1.3 billion metric tons (tonnes), of which that of inland river ports will have amounted to 80 million tonnes.
