China's economic planning agency has distributed 109 million yuan (15.77 million U.S. dollars) of investment funds to Guangdong Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which were badly hit by Typhoon Mangkhut.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) allocated 100 million yuan to Guangdong and 9 million yuan to Guangxi, according to a statement posted on the NDRC website.

The money will be used to help local authorities rebuild infrastructure and public facilities battered by the typhoon.

Some 3 million people were affected by the super typhoon, which landed on the coastal city of Jiangmen in Guangdong on Sept. 16.

Previously, the central government had already distributed funds totaling 210 million yuan to Guangdong and Guangxi for relocation, emergency livelihood support and rebuilding damaged homes.
