​China’s Shandong Province to promote transport infrastructure

The Shandong Provincial Government has recently launched a series of specific measures to promote transport infrastructure, which planed to add 1,450 kilometers of railways and 1,658 kilometers of expressways by 2020.

In terms of railway construction, by 2020, Shandong Province will complete projects such as the Jinan-Qingdao high-speed railway and Qingdao-Lianyungang railway, and accelerate the construction of Zhengzhou-Jinan high-speed railway and the Shandong part of the second high-speed railway route from Beijing to Shanghai, gradually forming a land transportation circle covering the province and major cities in neighbouring provinces.

As for road construction, Shandong will speed up the planning and construction of the expressway network and cover important rural tourist areas with relatively high-grade roads. By 2020, 20 expressways will be built, and the newly added expressway will be 1,658 kilometers.

In terms of airport construction, Shandong will complete construction of Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport and airports in Heze city and Qufu of Jining city, start construction of phase II of Jinan Airport project, phase II of Yantai Airport, and airports in Zaozhuang and Weifang.

For port construction, Shandong will invest 25 billion yuan to promote the construction of Qingdao Dongjiakou Port Area, the west area of Yantai Port, Lanshan port area of Rizhao Port, infrastructure and specialized berths of Dongying Port, as well as the expansion of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
