HONG KONG, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- A premium logistics center is expected to be set up and put into use in 2023 at Hong Kong International Airport to promote Hong Kong's competitiveness, the financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said Sunday.
The premium logistics center, located in the cargo precinct of the airport, will be Hong Kong's third largest logistic warehouse, and will help to promote high value-added third-party logistics in Hong Kong, Paul Chan Mo-po said in a blog article published on the financial secretary's official website.
Besides, the reconstruction of the airport's air mail center to enhance its efficiency and capacity is under active consideration and study, while the third runway project is being carried out in full swing, Chan said.
These projects, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of logistics, warehousing, transportation and customs clearance, will provide more favorable conditions for the development of the industry in Hong Kong, he pointed out.
Chan stressed the importance for Hong Kong to actively and continuously enhance its competitiveness against the backdrop of changes in the external macro economic situation, pointing out that Hong Kong could enhance the operational efficiency of business, logistics and cargo industries with the help of innovative technologies.
