The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed the value of re-exports (795 million patacas) decreased by 11.9 percent, with that of machines, apparatus and parts, diamond and diamond jewellery, as well as watches falling by 41.6 percent, 34.7 percent and 32.0 percent respectively.
The value of domestic exports (130 million patacas) rose by 16.3 percent, with that of garments surging by 604.9 percent.
From January to August 2019, total value of merchandise export increased by 3.0 percent year-on-year to 8.37 billion patacas, of which value of re-exports (7.44 billion patacas) grew by 5.0 percent but that of domestic exports (928 million patacas) declined by 10.9 percent.
Analysed by destination, merchandise export to the Chinese mainland dropped by 22.5 percent year-on-year to 1.06 billion patacas from January to August 2019. Exports to the Hong Kong SAR (5.44 billion patacas), the United States (141 million patacas) and the EU (137 million patacas) grew by 7.5 percent, 58.5 percent and 3.5 percent respectively.
Exports of textiles and garments totalled 648 million patacas, up by 39.2 percent. Exports of non-textiles went up by 0.8 percent year-on-year to 7.72 billion patacas. (One U.S. dollar equals to 8.06 patacas)
