SHANGHAI, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai will establish an intelligent decision-making big-data platform to help prevent and contain the COVID-19 epidemic across the megacity, local authorities said Wednesday.
The platform will offer support in detecting public health status, managing medical resources, releasing public health information, issuing key decisions in real time, coordinating organizations at all levels and predicting the development trend, according to Zong Ming, vice mayor of Shanghai.
Shanghai rolled out a package of measures Wednesday in a bid to become one of the safest cities in the world in terms of public health by 2025.
Digital and intelligent applications involving technologies including big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and blockchain are among the key measures.
Shanghai will push forward unified management online and strengthen the development of information infrastructure in the medical sector.
Key moves include setting up a smart public health warning system, strengthening doctors' training on infectious diseases and using big data to strengthen the ability of epidemic screening and diagnosing at an early stage.
The city will also promote online public medical services and launch remote medical diagnosing cooperation with other provinces and cities.
