MACAO, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Macao ranks the 48th international convention cities in 2019, and the 12th in Asia-Pacific region, the special administrative region's Trade and Investment Promotion Institute said on Monday.
The institute said Macao has moved up 23 places to the 48th worldwide, according to the International Meetings Market 2019 Report recently published by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
In the Asia-Pacific region, Macao ranks the 12th, up by five places compared to 2018, the institute added.
ICCA has also recognized 54 international conferences held in Macao, an increase of 38 percent year-on-year.
The report also mentioned that among the international conferences held in Macao recognized by ICCA in 2019, science and technology-themed ones take up the largest proportion of 26 percent.
The growing number of science and technology-themed international conferences held in Macao is beneficial to deepen the cooperation and exchange of scientific and technological talents from the Chinese mainland and all parts of the world, the Trade and Investment Promotion Institute added.
ICCA is an organization well recognized in the global convention industry, with more than 1,100 government organizations, convention-related companies, and convention centers from about 100 countries and regions.
