NANJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- East China's economic powerhouse Jiangsu Province has rolled out multiple measures to facilitate the development of agriculture, according to the provincial department of agriculture and rural affairs.
Jiangsu will seize the period of summer planting to boost the production of key agricultural products like grains, as the province aims to plant more than 33 million mu (2.2 million hectares) of rice, 4.5 million mu of oil crops and 600,000 mu of soybean and corn this year, said a circular released by the agricultural department.
The province will also issue one-time subsidies for grain growers to boost their enthusiasm for planting and promote the offline and online sales of agricultural products by organizing events including trade fairs.
In addition, Jiangsu will spur rural consumption by integrating agriculture with cultural tourism and health care and encourage financial institutions to support major agricultural projects by providing green financial products and credit support.
According to a recent report on China's agricultural outlook for 2022 to 2031, in the next decade, China's self-sufficiency rate for grains will increase to about 88 percent.
