The Silk Road offers huge potential and shared benefits to the people from Beijing to Brussels, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said at the opening ceremony of the Silk Road Forum 2015 held here Thursday.
The prime minister said that the forum aims to bring together the countries in the region to work hard to rebuild the Silk Road, removing barriers to deep integration, and promoting common prosperity.
He promised that Georgia will be an active partner in building the China-proposed Silk Road Economic Belt initiative. Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov and his Kyrgyz counterpart Valery Dil also delivered a speech respectively at the opening ceremony and called on the relevant countries to make joint efforts to promote further cooperation in reviving the Silk Road and seek common prosperity in the region.
Government representatives from 30 countries, 20 international financial institutions and business leaders from about 300 large companies are in Georgia's capital to attend the event.
