The third West Africa agro-food, beverage and packaging technology trade and exhibition fair opened in Ghana's capital here on Tuesday.

The three-day event aims to deal with the natural growth and promoting economic integration across the region. In all, 45 exhibitors from 15 countries are taking part in the fair to present their latest innovations to highly professional visitors.

A country pavilion from China with 10 Chinese exhibitors is present at the exhibition showcasing their products ranging from canned foods, Chinese green tea, packaging and non-dairy creamer products.

The Chinese companies say they are participating in the exhibition to promote their products and seek better markets in Ghana. "Chinese people always go to places to do business and we think that Ghana is a good place to do business.

I hope that our goods like canned fish can be sold in this area," Chrystal Tsui, sales manager at Fujian Guantong Foods, told Xinhua in an interview. Another Chinese exhibitor, Lu Chen, who works with the Anhui Unibest Company Limited, said the target of her firm was to bring Chinese tea to West African market and open a market there.

"I know that tea is very famous in the international markets so we want to come to West Africa to promote our products in the West African market," she said. Raier Yuan from the Shandong Tianjiao Biotech Company, dealers in non-dairy creamer products, said that the Ghanaian market was very big now hence their intention to explore the market here.

Cylin, Huangshan Songluo Organic Tea exporter, said they were here to exhibit the Chinese green tea. "You know green tea is the Chinese traditional way for drinking so we would like to make it popular in West Africa. Ghana people don't drink (green) tea so we try to explore the markets from here."
