The Interprofessional Council of Bordeaux Wine (CIVB) has announced recently in its latest report that China has become again the first destination of exportation of French Bordeaux wines in value in 2015 while the country maintained its first position in volume since 2011.

In 2015, the exports of Bordeaux wines to China have "strongly" raised up by 31 percent in volume and 25 percent in value, equivalent to 64 million bottles for 277 million euros (310 million U.S. dollars), according to statistics from the CIVB on Tuesday.

More and more young Chinese start to consume Bordeaux wines, an official of the CIVB told Xinhua. On Chinese market, Bordeaux wines took a market share of 67 percent in volume of the wines with protected designation of origin exported by France and 75 percent in value in 2015, the statistics showed.

Surging Chinese investment "does not worry us because it's part of the history of Bordeaux", said Bernard Farges, president of the CIVB, adding that "if this movement is happening in the Rhone Valley, Spain or in Italy, and not with us, then we would be very concerned."
