BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and Brunei signed a protocol on the phytosanitary requirement to allow export of muskmelon from Brunei to China, Brunei's Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism said on Tuesday.

The signing was made in Beijing on Monday between the General Administration of Customs of China and the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei. Brunei was represented by the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Haji Ali and on behalf of China was Vice Minister of General Administration of Customs Zhang Jiwen.

The Brunei minister was in China for a three-day working visit, where he also held bilateral discussions with his Chinese counterparts on acquiring more market access for Brunei to export other agriculture products to China, including fruits and meat products as well as aquaculture produce.

Brunei said that such export approvals from China will provide significant positive impact to these industries in terms of market access, productivity and the country's GDP growth.
