CHONGQING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- A purchasing and procurement center, featuring goods from the ASEAN member countries, opened on Sunday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
Located in the Chongqing Highway Logistics Base, the business area, at the initial stage, covers 2,300 square meters. Customers can buy various products ranging from silver products to seafood at the center.
A cross-border highway freight service between Chongqing and the ASEAN was launched at the logistics base in April 2016.
Operated by the ASEAN international logistics park of Chongqing, and with a total investment of 10 million yuan (about 1.41 million U.S. dollars), the 14,000-square-meter purchasing center aims to become a new platform for the exchange of goods between the western Chinese inland regions and the ASEAN member countries.
The purchasing center will work with the traditional commercial and e-commerce enterprises at the base to further promote the integration of transportation, logistics, commerce, and industry to build the logistics base into an international commerce and logistics hub, according to Liu Gongfeng, an official at the logistics base.
