SHANGHAI, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Matchmaking sessions for investors and exhibitors at the ongoing third China International Import Expo (CIIE) were productive by the weekend, thanks to organizers' efforts to facilitate more deals.

As of Saturday, up to 861 "cooperation intentions" were reached at online or offline sessions attended by 674 exhibitors and 1,351 buyers from 64 countries and regions, according to Kong Fu'an, vice director of the CIIE bureau.

The bureau also organized 10 investment promotion events, while 42 leading international companies held product launches at the CIIE, Kong told a press conference Sunday.

At the CIIE, hundreds of new products, technologies and services were introduced to the Chinese market for the first time, more than half of which made their world debut, Kong said.

Italy, Portugal, Pakistan and Fiji created awareness about local conditions and investment opportunities among global audiences on the CIIE official website via photos and video links.

Despite restrictions due to virus containment measures, this year's CIIE has attracted 2,600-odd global exhibitors and is expected to welcome 400,000 visitors, making it one of the largest events across the world in 2020.
