The shipment of wearable devices is expected to reach 76.1 million units across the globe this year, up 163.6 percent from 28.9 million units in 2014, according to a report released by IDC on Monday.
Larger number of manufacturers, greater variety of devices, better user experience and dropping prices boosted the growth of wearable devices across the world, said IDC. The market researcher estimates that by 2019, the global shipment of wearable devices will top 173.4 million units, with a compound annual growth of 22.9 percent.
