The intercity railway between Beijing and Tianjin now extends to Yujiapu, the core zone of Tianjin's coastal commercial district the Binhai New Area.
The first bullet train between Beijing South Railway Station and Yujiapu was operated on Sunday, taking one hour and two minutes in total to finish the trip. Opened on August 1, 2008, the Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway is China's first high-speed rail line.
