China Grain Reserves Corporation said that it had initiated 2015 middle- and late-season rice purchase in Anhui, Sichuan and Hubei.
The company also kicked off the purchase in partial areas of Henan on Wednesday. The blocking time of 2015 middle- and late-season rice purchase is January 31, 2016.
Those four provinces have arranged 1,513 reserve storages with capacity of 9.75 million metric tons (tonnes) for autumn grain purchase.
Rice is a staple food in China, and its total grain output consists of three parts -- early rice, summer grain and autumn production.
Autumn grain crops, which include corn and middle- and late-season rice, account for the bulk of the grain production.
