China Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) announced on Friday that the Vehicle Inventory Alert Index (VIA) for Chinese car dealers rose seven percentage points month on month in September, to 55.7 percent.
The association said the total market demand sub-index and inventory sub-index went up in the period, while the employee sub-index, average daily sales sub-index and operating status sub-index declined.
It attributed the increase of VIA index in September mainly to the V-day vacation at the month beginning, which stimulated consumption ahead of the traditional selling season.
The following chart shows the VIA index for Chinese car dealers.
