A regular direct air route between Wuhan City in central China's Hubei Province and Tokyo was launched Tuesday, said sources with the Hubei Airports Group Co., Ltd.
The flight is operated by the Hubei branch of China Southern Airlines. It is scheduled to depart Wuhan at 8:20 a.m. local time every Tuesday and Friday and arrive in Tokyo at 1:30 p.m. local time. T
he return flight will depart Tokyo at 2:30 p.m. local time every Tuesday and Friday and land in Wuhan at 5:30 p.m. local time.
In 2014, Japan received 2.2 million Chinese tourists, up about 82 percent from the previous year, data showed. This made China the third largest source of tourists to Japan.
It is estimated that there will be robust growth in tourists to Japan in 2015. As an important aviation hub in central China, Wuhan currently has more than 30 international flights, including three intercontinental direct flights to Paris, Moscow and San Francisco.
