Annual tea production in China has expanded 400 percent in the latest 20 years, said Chang Kaisong, secretary general of inter-government tea working group at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
According to the statistics of FAO, the tea output in India and Kenya increased 130 percent and 200 percent in recent 20 years, respectively. As the largest tea producing country, China contributed to 38 percent of the world's tea production in 2013. Meanwhile global tea consumption has kept increasing thanks to rising per capita income of emerging countries like China and India.
