China will step up efforts to promote opening up of its low-altitude airspace, or airspace below 1,000 meters, according to new guidelines issued by the State Council on Monday.
The government will streamline procedures for examination and approval to create a flexible environment for development of the emerging industries, said the guidelines. China's general aviation sector is expected to boom and serve as a new growth point for China's economy, analysts say.
Li Jiaxiang, director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, earlier predicted that China would have more than 5,000 general aviation aircraft by 2020, performing flights of about 2 million hours annually.
