Global LCD TV shipment is to reach 216 million sets in 2015, shrinking again after 2013, and the shipment in 2016 is expected to grow 1.85 percent year on year to 220 million sets, predicts the leading LCD market research firm WitsView, a business division of market researcher TrendForce Corp.
Global LCD TV market demand is reaching the saturation point and market competition becomes increasingly intensive. Republic of Korea-based Samsung and LG have maintained the first and second positions as most influential TV brands in 2015 and will keep their rankings in 2016.
Among Chinese brands, TCL, Hisense and Skyworth are still the top three brands, followed by Changhong, Konka and Haier. Sony is the only Japanese brand enlisted in global top 10 TV brands.
To improve business revenue and make profit, branded TV manufacturers continued to enhance the production of large-sized TV sets. The proportion of shipment of TV sets above 50-inch rose to 19.7 percent in 2015 from 18.3 percent in 2014, and is expected to reach 22 percent in 2015, and the promotion of TV sets of 65-inch will be a priority. The penetration of 4K TV sets is predicted to top 23 percent in 2016 from 13-14 percent in 2015.
