Highway and waterway passenger transport volume in China in October reached 1.69 billion person-times, down 0.1 percent on year, www.zgjtb.com reported on Thursday.
According to the report, in the first ten months of this year highway and waterway passenger transport volume has totaled 16.23 billion person-times, down 0.6 percent on year. Meanwhile highway and waterway freight transport volume has reached 3.79 billion tonnes (metric tons), up 6.5 percent on year on October. And in the first ten months of this year the figure amounted to 34.07 billion tones, up 5.8 percent on year.
Ports with freight handling capacity over 15 million tonnes in China have accomplished a cargo throughput of 950 million tones on October, down 1.3 percent on year. And in the first ten months of this year the figure reached 9.55 million tonnes, up 2.4 percent on year.
