China will strengthen policy support and legal guarantee for the animal husbandry industry's breakthrough development during agricultural modernization, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) on Thursday.

Since the beginning of this year, the MOA has adopted effective measures to transform development mode of the animal husbandry and increase its profitability and competitiveness. This year, the ministry pushed forward standardized large-scale breeding of livestock and poultry and built 410 national demonstrative farms to make the total number surpass 4,000.

Meanwhile, the number of large-scale breeding farms with annual slaughtered pigs of more than 500 and annual cow stocks of over 100 is estimated to respectively account for 44 percent and 48 percent of the total in 2015, up 2.2 percentage points and 2.8 percentage points from last year.

The A-share listed companies including Muyuan Foods (002714.SZ) and Pulike Biological Engineering (603566.SH) are expected to benefit from the animal husbandry's further development.
