Seventy-six enterprises had arranged 226 car recall cases in China this year till Dec. 18, involving 5.55 million defective cars, said Yan Fengmin, an official with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, on Monday.
The number of recalls and involved defective cars grew 29 percent and 17 percent year on year, respectively. According to Yan, China has recorded 1,079 car recall cases in total since it started the implementation of defective car recall system in October 2014, and 25.34 million defective cars were involved in these cases.
Among the 1,079 recall cases, 270 cases are related to engine deficiency, 134 are related to air bag and seat belt deficiency, and 181 are related to electronic device deficiency.
