Japanese automaker Mazda announced on Monday that the retail sales of Mazda-brand cars in China grew 11.5 percent year on year to 235,261 units in 2015, a second record high only after the 239,709 units for the year of 2010.

In December, Mazda sold 25,071 cars in China, rising 15 percent year on year. In a breakdown, 8,166 units were sold by FAW Mazda, down 15.3 percent year on year; and 16,905 units were sold by Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd, up 39 percent year on year.

The company says it successfully fulfilled the annual target of selling 220,000 cars in China, despite the slowdown of overall car market growth.
