Along with worldwide economic slowdown, global exhibition market fell into contraction, but China was an exception, where the exhibition industry showed robust growth in 2015 after the adjustment in 2014.

The exhibition industry is considered as a barometer for economic development.

Data from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) showed that 3,168 exhibitions were held in China with a total of 89 million square meters of exhibition area. Among the exhibitions, 2,612 were trade fairs, with 78.74 million square meters of exhibition area, respectively rising 7.8 percent and 10.8 percent from a year earlier.

Wang Jinzhen, vice chairman of the CCPIT, said that China is in a stage of growth engine transforming and some traditional industries face great difficulties, but high-tech industries, service sector and the industries related to new consumption modes will provide firm support for China's exhibition market.
