Fuel surcharges for flights from Hong Kong scrapped

Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department announced on Wednesday that passengers flying from Hong Kong will not have to pay fuel surcharges from next month.

They were introduced to allow airlines to partially offset the increase in their operating costs when fuel prices were rising. But the department said the surcharges are no longer warranted because fuel prices have fallen sharply in the past few months.
