China's Hainan Airlines began its non-stop service between Los Angeles and the central China city of Changsha on Thursday.
Officials from Hainan Airlines and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) held an inaugural ceremony at the U.S. airport to celebrate the new route opened between the largest city on the U.S. west coast and the capital city of China's Hunan province.
The first flight from Los Angeles to Changsha departed at about 12:30 p.m. local time on Thursday (04:30 GMT). The service was offered aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
According to the airport, the flight marks the first ever by Hainan Airlines to LAX. The airline also offers direct flights from China to Chicago, Boston, San Jose, Seattle and Toronto, Canada.
