Middle East airliners saw a year-on-year growth of 4.5 percent in passenger demand in July, slightly faster than the 3.6-percent annual growth in June, International Air Transport Authority (IATA) said on Thursday.
However, the performance in passenger demand remained well below the five-year average pace of 11.2 percent, said IATA.
The traffic between Middle East and North America has been affected by a "combination of factors" in 2017, including the recently-lifted cabin ban on large portable electronic devices and a wider impact from the proposed travel bans to the United States, the report added.
Traffic growth on the Mideast-U.S. route already slowed down in early 2017, in line with a moderation in the pace of expansion of nonstop services flown by the largest Middle Eastern airlines.
Global passenger demand rose 6.2 percent in July compared with the year before, which was a slowdown from the 7.6-percent growth recorded in June.
"As is evidenced by the record high load factor in July, the appetite for air travel remains very strong," said Alexandre de Juniac, IATA's Director General and CEO.
"However, the stimulus effect of lower fares is softening in the face of rising cost inputs. This suggests a moderating in the supportive demand backdrop," he added.
