IMAX China saw a record 337 million U.S. dollars at the box office in 2018, up 16 percent from the previous year, according to a company statement released Wednesday.
Preliminary financial results of IMAX China Holding, Inc. for 2018 show that Greater China revenue totaled 117.5 million dollars while gross profit reached 75.3 million dollars.
Chinese language films contributed 30 percent of IMAX China's total box office in 2018, up from 24 percent registered in 2017, according to the statement.
The company also noted its box office during China's Spring Festival holiday surged 40 percent compared with the same period last year, with the growth mainly driven by Chinese sci-fi blockbuster "The Wandering Earth."
