China's courier sector expands

BEIJING, March 17 (Xinhua) -- China's courier sector continued to expand, raking in 94.7 billion yuan (about 14.1 billion U.S. dollars) of revenue from January to February, up 20.3 percent year on year.

The volume of parcels delivered rose 21.9 percent year on year to 7.28 billion, according to the data given by the State Post Bureau (SPB).

In February alone, the sector's business revenue grew 21 percent to 35.02 billion yuan. The volume of delivered parcels saw a 38.7-percent increase to 2.76 billion.

Cross-border courier services increased 9.9 percent year on year in business volume in the first two months, with 180 million parcels delivered.

The country plans to extend the courier network and improve computer systems, services and international connections by 2020, when the target annual revenue of the courier sector will hit 800 billion yuan.
