NEW DELHI, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Car sales in India dipped by around 4 percent during November, as compared to the same month last year, said the latest sales figures.

The decline was still less as compared to the last 11 months when the sales witnessed a fall of over 20 percent, vis-a-vis the corresponding months of the last year, said local media reports on Monday.

The country's biggest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki posted a sale of total 141,400 cars domestically, a dip of over 3 percent compared to 146,018 units sold in the same month last year.

Company's Chairman R.C. Bhargava was quoted as saying that during December it was expected that the sales might improve as the car manufacturers offer year-end discounts to clear the old stocks.

While Hyundai sales grew by a marginal 2 percent during November, compared to November 2018, at 44,600 units, other car manufacturers Mahindra and Mahindra and Tata Motors reported a decline in sales of 10 percent and 39 percent, respectively year-on-year.
