LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The film permit applications increased quickly from mid-August and overall activity levels have stabilized at around 44 percent of what it was under normal summer conditions, FilmLA, partner official film office of the City and County of Los Angeles said.

According to a report from FilmLA Thursday, being in charge of on-location filmmaking process for communities and content creators, the not-for-profit public benefit organization had received approximately 1,127 film permit applications from 829 unique projects since June, and monthly application intake increased nearly 40 percent in August compared to July.

"Daily intake now averages around 27 applications per business day," the report said.

In terms of on-location work, the advertising industry, including still photography and commercials, remained prominent with a 52 percent share of local permit requests.

Meanwhile, scripted, unscripted and web-based television content together represent the next-largest share of August permit activity at 18 percent, FilmLA stated, adding that Music video production now accounts for 11 percent of permits.

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of on-location filming in Greater Los Angeles has fallen sharply since the first quarter of this year, and FilmLA resumed remote office operations on June 15 after local authorities had approved to finish lockdown for the industry.
