BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- China's pickup truck sales logged robust month-on-month growth in May with the epidemic situation improved and production rebounded, data from the China Passenger Car Association shows.

Last month, 42,000 pickup trucks were sold in China, soaring 23.8 percent over one month earlier, said the association. Nevertheless, the sales figure was 7.9 percent lower than that in May last year.

In the first five months of the year, 207,000 pickup trucks were produced and sold in China, dropping 10.3 percent year on year.

The association remains bullish on the future performance of the market, highlighting China's strong policy incentives for improving product quality and boosting consumption through possible removal of pickup restrictions in urban districts.

It said major manufacturers released passenger pickup truck products, expecting continuous strong growth of pickup truck consumption driven by an increasingly vibrant car culture favoring the vehicles.
