Sinopec Jiujiang Company, a subsidiary of China's top oil refiner Sinopec Corp. (SNP.NYSE; 00386.HK; 600028.SH), recently saw the operation of its 8-million-tonne/year expansion project, said a release by Sinopec Group on Tuesday.

Through the expansion, Sinopec Corp. added a 5-million-tonne/year distillation unit, a 1.7-million-tonne/year residual hydrogenation unit and 1 2.4-million-tonne/year hydrogenation and cracking unit.

It's estimated that monthly crude oil throughput of the Jiujiang refinery would increase by 20 percent in the fourth quarter.

The Jiujiang refinery would be able to produce gasoline and diesel in line with Guo-V emission standards starting from September 2016, with the upgrading of production standards involving 440 million yuan of investment.
