Chinese demand for natural gas would be 190 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2015, said Ye Hongjun, an official with PetroChina North China Sales Company on Tuesday.
Speaking at an industry meeting, Ye predicted that national natural gas demand would be 298.4 billion cubic meters in 2020 and 454.4 billion cubic meters in 2030, respectively.
Ye said Chinese LNG demand would have averaged growth of 8.1 percent in 2015-2020. Chinese demand of natural gas has entered a new normal with medium and high growth rates, said Ye. China had 184.5 billion cubic meters of apparent natural gas consumption in 2014 and year-on-year growth dropped to ten-year low of 9.8 percent.
